The route starts from Starigrad Paklenica, leading along Velebit and through a landscape that combines mountain, river and sea. Gravel roads and paths through Mediterranean conifers, views of the Zrmanja canyon and the islands of the Zadar archipelago, and descents toward the Adriatic Sea make this route a unique blend of rugged nature and beauty accessible by bike.

Paklenica – Zrmanja takes you through the rugged beauty of Velebit, the Zrmanja canyon and the blue of the Adriatic.
For all travellers heading to the sea and Dalmatia, probably one of the most exciting moments is when you pass through the Sveti Rok tunnel. The temperature at the tunnel exit often jumps by about 10 degrees compared to the entrance, and the highway winds through an impressive rocky landscape shaped by the stormy and hurricane-force bura that descends from Velebit toward the sea, mostly in winter.

Many travellers have passed through here and — continued on. But this scenery is not just a backdrop, this is one of the most beautiful parts of Croatia that hides and reveals so much that cannot be seen from a car.
